Institute of Diplomacy is an elite educational and structural unit of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan that provides training in International Relations and upgrades the skills of acting diplomatic personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan (MFA RK).

Scientific management of doctoral theses by domestic and foreign scholars. The curricula are based on the monitoring of training programs of leading academies in the world for the preparation of diplomatic personnel. Teachers on the staff of the Institute have the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Minister-Counselor.

• Institute of Diplomacy gives to Masters and PhD students the opportunity of studying two foreign languages.
• At the end of study Master students of the Institute obtain their master degree in international relationsfrom the Academy and a certificate of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy.

Department «Official and Foreign Languages»

Key facts and statistics:
Department «Official and Foreign Languages» was founded in 1999. Teaching staff of the department has its traditions and innovations. There are specialists with good work experience. About 55% of all teachers have academic degree. Staff actively participate in R&D activities, apply interactive technologies in lectures and courses.

Students:
6 graduate students on the 2nd course “6M020700-Translation affairs”.

Mission of the department is to carry out quality process of teaching in foreign language for public servants with prime technology and development of European and international standards of teaching and assessment of knowledge.
The development concept of the language department and translation affairs determines the necessary development of information data of the Academy, connection to cable television for the lessons in foreign language; regular research for the development of new technologies for the teaching in foreign languages in order to develop R&D, participate in international projects for the development of new methods of teaching in foreign language, hold comparative language research; develop new approaches of scientific qualification for the formation of teaching staff of the department, excellent methods of teaching for adults, ability to work in staff and aspiration to perfection; for the improvement of teaching process necessary to develop prime methods of teaching in foreign languages; using Internet resources and communication technologies; the issues of qualification upgrade of public servants at the Academy, create favorable conditions on international standards.

Academy is the only educational institution in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which legislatively fixed functions of training, retraining and skills upgrading of civil servants.

Most students study at the Academy at the expense of republican budget and receive stipends in the amount equivalent to their latest job salary.

In case of assignment by the government body unpaid leave of vacation is offered to civil servants to study within the framework of government order by the program of postgraduate education and a job place is preserved.

Students at the Academy did annually overseas internships at universities of Oxford and Cambridge (UK), California Berkeley (USA), the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (Austria), the French National School of the Judiciary ENM (France), the Royal Institute of Public Administration ROI (Netherlands), the Justice Academy and TODAIE (Turkey) and the Russian Academy of National economy and Public Administration. As of 2012, the opportunity to obtain a double diploma Academy with the National School of Administration ENA (France) and TODAIE (Turkey).

Each 10 graduateholds political or equivalent for it position. About 30 % of the Academy graduatesget promoted within 1 year after graduation.
In accordance with positions grade for citizens, students, who passed training under postgraduate study program on the base of government order at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan or those who graduated international universities by the priority specialties the right to be enrolled in personnel reserve of Corp «B» is implemented after study completion.

Government body, which assigned executive civil servant of Corp «B» to study at the National School of Public Policy of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the base of government study order take necessary measures to appoint to higher official position of executive public position of Corp «B» during the three month after graduation.

In case of assigning executive civil servant to retraining and skills upgrading courses on the base of government order, in accordance with Law, guarantees and compensations are preserved.

The Academy also provides study opportunities through scholarships from Hanns-Seidel Foundation (Germany).

Academy graduates on law specialty may participate in the qualifying exam for judge.

All fellows are provided with accommodation at Academy's dormitory.
